WE have a new little lady in the complex. Carrie Caruso has purchased #B-11. She actually planned to move in, in June, but on her first trip of carrying in boxes, she fell and broke a hip. She ended up in the hospital, rhab, and finally back here. Carrie has a very soft, sweet voice, so when you visit with her, crank up your hearing aide. She comes from Madison, Wisconsin originally, but most recently from Levine, Arizona.
Sunshine Acres was the Mesa drawing card for Carrie, whose son Jim and daughter-in-law Marla, are house-parents to ten girls. Her nephew Matt and wife Kari, who have three children, also live at the Acres and are house-parents to boys.
The whole Caruso family is eagerly awaiting the birth of a baby girl in Florida, who will join her sister Kiai, who was adopted two years ago by Pastor Luke and Amy of Canada. Grandparents Jim and Marla Caruso, and great grandma Carrie are very excited about the upcoming birth. This new baby will make 10 great grandbabies for Carrie.
Carrie has five children: Jim (Marla), Mike (Theresa), Rose Caruso of Wisconsin, Carol Caruso of Arizona, and Pat Caruso of New York.
Carrie was a stay at home Mom, who kept very busy with sewing project, and crafts. She made beautiful sock dolls for little girls, and clowns for boys, and still has them available for shower gifts etc. She makes fabric books for young children, by cutting out the printed pictures and putting them together in a book. I could not resist them.
Growing up in Madison, the capitol of Wisconsin, Carrie has many stories of playing in the capitol building, of Christmas Pageants past, and affairs in that building. Coming from Wisconsin myself originally, Carrie and I found we have a lot in common. We talked about preserving wedding dresses, handing down heirlooms to grandchildren, and even the confusion of the computer age.
We think you will all fall in love with little Carrie. She very much wants to be part of the community, is looking forward to pool exercises, joining the genealogy class, and the ever popular Saturday morning Coffee. We have initiated her into the summer culture, and warn her that the winter crowd is even more fun. ``
