THE VILLAGE  GOLFERS
If you are looking for someone to put on a terrific party, look no further than Sandy Calhoun and Dick Akers.  They hosted the 2015 Village @ Apache Wells Golfer’s party on the last day of February, 2015.  Sandy did all the ordering and shopping, plus setting up the tables in the library for the pizza and salad.  She prepared a beautiful cheese table, with cookies and mints to follow the pizza.

Dick arranged for the tickets and guests, and made the announcements for the following year.  Last but not least was Martin Aaser as M.C.To loosen up the crowd before dinner, five Village Syncopated Skirts, (Virgil Christianson, Jim Mootz, Andy Arnot, Roy Lietzaw, and Mike Halvorson) did an amazing ballet number.  Having been in a similar dance with Village performers eleven years ago, Virgil was the only one of that former group left standing.  The Dueling Joksters, Virgil Christianson and Jim Mootz did a number of stand- up jokes.  Jim told of his efforts to find a leotard for his ballet costume and ended up buying ladies white panty hose for a lady up to 300 pounds. As usual, their dumb blonde jokes got the most applause.

The Two Birdies and a Par, Jim Albach and Irene Schaufele on guitar/Jeannine Albach singing in harmony, they entertained the crowd with their renditions of, It’s Good To Be Back Home Again, Two Eyes Crying In the Rain, The Green Green Grass of Home, and Let Me Be There.  Martin Aaser joined the trio in, My Knapsack On My Back, as he played his trusty old Washboard.
As I left the party, the guests were on the dance floor dancing to Sentimental Journey.  Now can you picture a nicer party than that?  Our hats go off to Sandy Calhoun and Dick Akers, their helpers and entertainers, for putting on a great party.
