VALENTINE PARTY
What a nice evening we had on Valentine Day, and to think we might not have had a party at all.  Thanks to old stand-bys Shirley Feinman and Nancy Curtis who stepped in at the last minute, the night turned out to be a most enjoyable one.

Martin Aaser volunteered to rustle up the entertainment.  Luckily, his friend Gordy Lindquist, also known as Crazy Fingers, was available on such short notice.  Crazy Fingers had entertained at a previous affair held at our clubhouse, and was given a hearty welcome.  It would be impossible for me to justly describe his presentation on the piano, as he played the Blues, Jazz, and Classical music.  He did one number with what he called Norwegian sheet music, the sheet music being a white bed sheet draped over the entire piano, including the keys.  He performed with his head under the sheet.  Outside the sheet he played with his nimble fingers on top of the covered keys.  He even played wearing Isotoner gloves.  Finally he played while lying with his back to the keys and hands over his head.  His act was one of the most entertaining we had seen in a long time.  At last he invited us to stand and join in singing, God Bless America.  And then he quipped, “Now I can tell my friends that I received a standing ovation at the Village.”
Crazy Fingers rightly deserved a standing ovation as did Shirley, Nancy, and Martin.  Thanks friends.
