HELEN RICKEY, 1ST LT USAF

During Memories Night last month at the San Antonio Reunion of his World War II Bombardment Group, Stanton Rickey introduced his granddaughter, Helen Rickey, who volunteered and was selected for a direct commission in the US Air Force, Judge Advocate General Department (JAG). Helen is a graduate of Seattle University Law School and has been a practicing attorney in Seattle for the past 3 years. Naturally she applied to the Air Force as both of her grandpas are Retired USAF and her father served in the Hawaii Air National Guard.

Helen went on active duty on 5 Oct 2013 and reported to a 5 week Commissioned Officer Training Program at Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, AL. After that her initial duty assignment as a JAG will be at Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM.

Stanton Rickey is pleased to report that he apparently now is a Cancer Survivor.  He has had 3 PETSCANS at 90 day intervals that show no evidence of further metastasizing.  His latest checkup at Banner/MD Anderson Cancer Clinic in Gilbert, AZ was on 7 Oct 2013.  The oncologist told Stanton that his melanoma and colon cancers evidently had not spread further.  His surgeries and radiation last year at this time apparently were successful.  Stanton is still hanging in there at Age 93.
