End of Summer Party, Discovers Poet In Our Midst
The End of Summer Dinner was fabulous, the friends irreplaceable, and the desire to look forward to another year, uppermost in our hearts.
Not only did the Summer Party bring out the culinary expertise of Dolly Spencer's preparation of barbecued spare ribs, but we were also surprised  by Jean Halvorson's composition and reading of this:

Tribute to Roger and Mary:
Sixty six long years ago, Roger and Mary to the church did go.
They pledged their love, and started a new life.
Becoming partners, parents, husband and wife.
They were blessed with children and enjoyed each one.
There was work and worry, but most of all fun.
The children grew and left the nest.
It was time for the parents to have a rest.
So off to Arizona they did go
And found The Village, which they love so.
Mary wrote stories, and Roger played ball.
They made lots of friends, and inspired them all.
Life is not finished, there are more things to be done.
With God's richest blessings, they'll have lots more fun.
Blessings,
Mike and Jean Halvorson.
